Library tour – School and group visits to the Library

Book your classes now for guided tours, story times, and Library orientation sessions with Library staff. Your students may apply for Library cards, borrow books, listen to book talks and stories, develop their research skills, and learn how to use the Library’s computer catalogue. We look forward to sharing the Library with you and your class!

The Oshawa Public Libraries offers outreach programs to schools, including story times, book talks, theme presentations, and more to support your focus on literacy and learning.

Is your school having a Family Reading Night or other literacy activity? Is your Mum & Tot circle having a special event? We will be happy to join you with books and stories, booklists, and paper game takeaways for any age children. Invite a librarian to your classroom today! Teachers and school librarians are invited to check out a deposit of books for the classroom or daycare centre. Picture books, novel sets, non-fiction to enrich your students’ investigation of a topic are all available. Two weeks notice is required if you wish staff to put together materials on a specific theme or subject.

Visiting Library Services

Our Visiting Library Services deliver Library materials to customers in their homes or long-term care centre/retirement residences who have no other access to the Library. You let us know what you like to read or listen to and we will put together a different selection each month. Family members or friends designated by you can pick up and return your books too.
