On Thursday December 3rd, from noon to 4pm at McLaughlin Branch, explore ways in which persons with disabilities can pursue independent lifestyles, sustainable livelihoods and financial security. Talk to organizations that serve disabilities and to the people they serve. Learn how the library uses adaptive technology and other tools, services, and programs to remove barriers to information.
Two break-out sessions are scheduled, located in the McLaughlin Room:
2 pm - Adaptive technology demonstration with Paul Feldman, local entrepreneur and active community volunteer. Find out how technology can level the playing field for persons with disabilities.
3 pm - CNIB Digital Library online tour with Faline Bobier, CNIB. Ask about Visunet, a new partnership with Oshawa Public Libraries and CNIB for persons with low vision.
